2011 Shoe-Box Appeal

2011 Shoe Box Appeal

The 2011 Appeal was launched by Provost John Hulbert at the October Coffee Morning which helped to raise over £675.

Thanks to the generosity of the local community the total number of gift filled shoe boxes received and Custom Checked by the 192 volunteers on Saturday 5th November was 5,105.
Thanks are also due for the time and talents given by the many lady knitters - 12 cartons of knitted blankets, 14 cartons of knitted clothes are also on their way to Romania.
In addition the money donated towards transportation is over £7,900, which will pay for 2 Lorries going to Romania. The grand total sum for the Appeal, after taking fund raising from all sources, comes to over £11,300.

Thank you for your support in helping put laughter on the faces of 5,105 people in Romania this Christmas.

Presentation to James Campbell Blythswood Care Chief Executive
We were delighted that James Campbell accepted the invitation from Rev Hugh O’Brien to come and speak at the 2 morning services on Sunday 20th November.
He spoke about the work undertaken by Blythswood Care including the Talita Kum 2 Project for Secondary School age under priviledge children in Jimbolia, due to open in the spring of 2012.
It was with great delight that the Perth Support Group were able to present James Campbell with a cheque for £3,500 - £500 for continued support of the work with young men in the Daniel Centre, Cluj and £3,000 towards the £20,000 required to fit out the new Talita Kum 2 Centre.
The Support Group would like to thank everybody that has given donations with a special thank you to the Open Door Volunteers for their very generous donation of £1,000 towards the Project in Jimbolia.
