MUSIC WORKSHOP
We are holding a fun music workshop at the church on Sunday 4th March. This information is for you if you have signed-up for thew workshops already or if you are part of our church family and play an instrument, sing, or are interested in the music in our services.
Some background:
We are reviewing the music at the 11.00am service and plan to have a richer variety including some, we hope, led by different instruments form time to time as folk are able to help. Since we are doing this we thought we would have a fun workshop for all abilities and none, instruments or voice. Basically if you are interested in playing or singing then come alone. There will be some hand-held percussion instruments and 'things' for you if you don't currently have an instrument. We want this workshop to be open to anyone from all four of our weekly services - Sundays 9.30, 11am and 6.30pm; and Thursdays at 1pm. So it is for YOU!
Outcomes
Firstly, we hope you'll come along and have fun on the 4th. If you already play we hope you'll think about being part of one of our services' music. If you are experienced already, when you are at the workshop you may be able to encourage others.
Also, it would be great if you would consider being part of a small group who will add to the richness of the 11am music either by playing an instrument or joining the choir; or joining our existing praise band at the 9.30am service; or help lead praise at our 6.30pm service. These are all options to think about, however, come along and join us at the workshop even if none of the above suits you at present.
Details of the workshop
Sunday 4th March is our church fellowship lunch day, following the 11.00am service, so....
1. Stay on for church lunch -OR- come back for church lunch at 12.00pm -OR- have your own lunch at home .... then....
2. Come and join us at 12.45pm in the church (enter by side door) - we will finished by 3.00pm at the latest.
3. If you have an instrument bring your own (unless it's a grand piano or something heavier!) If it is a portable keyboard then bring it; if it is a brass instrument then bring it; if it is a double-base we've got room for it; if it is a penny whistle we want to see it; if it is a tambourine then don't forget it! (Get the message?)
4. We will practice two quite easy songs accompanied by the instruments and one a cappella (without accompaniment). If you sign-up by email we will send you music and words to look at before the event. If you do not read music do not worry - there will be something enjoyable and valuable for you to do!
The workshop will be led by Pauline Jackson, assisted by Sally Bonnar - and it should be great fun. We already have a number of people signed-up. We will also have a brief chat about music in church when we meet.
If you have not yet signed-up for the workshop please email Anne Clinton, Church Manager (anne.clinton@btconnect.com) giving your name, contact details and instrument if you have one - that will help us plan for the workshop and provide tea coffee and juice as appropriate. If you need transport home with an instrument (for example if you are being dropped-off by a parent) then let Anne know too. * Transport may be provided solely for members of our church family who live within Perth and surrounding area.
