WHAT WE BELIEVE

John 3:16 -

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

OUR BELIEFS

We are passionate about God and excited about our faith!  Together, our aim is to know Christ and make Him known.

Why?

Because we are bowled-over by the fact that God loves us so much that He gave His only Son Jesus for us, and that Jesus willingly left the glory of heaven for our sake.

We are humbled that He chose to go to the cross for our sake and we praise God for that first Easter Sunday morning which saw Jesus rise from the dead, showing all power and authority!

Although we may not fully understand it, in faith we believe that in coming to Him, Jesus, we share that victory over death and sin - and we pray that you do to!

MORE ON WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe there is one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe that God the Father in His love has sent Jesus Christ, His Son, into the world to save us from our sins by dying for us and rising to life again.

We believe that God has called us to live by faith in Jesus Christ through the power of His Holy Spirit in our hearts and that only through acceptance of Jesus Christ as our Saviour, and faith in Him, is forgiveness, new life and salvation obtained.

Our standards of belief are to be found in the Bible (God's Word) and in the Westminster Confession of Faith, which is the Church of Scotland’s historic subordinate confession of faith.

THE APOSTLES' CREED

(Provides a very good brief summary of our faith)

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.

He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit

and born of the Virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again.

He ascended into heaven,

and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic Church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting.

Amen.
